Easily, considering in this field any medical doctor can call himself a plastic surgeon without actually being one. For $500.00 someone can purchase a medical degree via the Internet (on un-reputable websites) hang out a shingle outside their home and start seeing clients; illegal, but doable and pretty scary, when you think about it.

Although some of the procedures he performed could have been done under a local anesthesia, he gave all his patients a general anesthesia instead. Talk about an extreme makeover!

Most victims of bad plastic surgery are reluctant to speak openly about their experiences. When those who are pro-active decide to sue for damages, the doctor simply files for bankruptcy and walks away from the lawsuit to pick up a practice somewhere else.

Beware of plastic surgery being offered in Mexico, Costa Rica or Brazil at outrageously cheap prices. You get what you pay for, which is usually a botched job done by an under-qualified individual masquerading as a doctor. For those patients who happen to get an infection after plastic surgery, they are simply told that infections are an “acceptable complication” in any surgery. Depending on what type of plastic surgery was performed, oftentimes the patient is asked to pay again for the same procedure to clear up the infection and the subsequent problems resulting from it.
